Rose Hobart
ROSE HOBART. Vintage 8x10 matte finish silver tone head and shoulders studio portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To John Meyers Jr./Sincerely/Rose Hobart." Fine condition, with mild creasing to the bottom corner tips; very faint and inoffensive emulsification spotting, largely in the background; and scattered tiny surface impressions, all completely invisible when the image is viewed head on. Rose Hobart appeared in nearly 40 films during the 1930s and 1940s, most notably as one of the female leads in the 1931 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Although she would not appear in films again following her blacklisting in 1949, which resulted in part from her strong pro-union activities on behalf of the Screen Actors Guild, she continued to act onstage and re-emerged on television in a number of series in the late 1960s.
