Gloria Swanson
GLORIA SWANSON. Vintage 8x10 glossy black and white chest-up portrait, signed in the bottom border in blue fountain pen, "Greetings/Gloria Swanson." Fine condition, with the ink light but not faded, as I have seen other copies of this image signed and the ink is always similarly light -- it's just the kind of ink she was using, fairly impossible to see in the accompanying scan but visible on the actual photograph, although the ink does appear to have skipped on the first letter of the signature. This image depicts Swanson at around the time of the lamentable 1941 comedy, Father Takes A Wife, a bad movie that featured Swanson at her most arch and phony and effectively seemed to kill her career onscreen until her electrifying return a decade later in Sunset Boulevard.
