Gale Sondergaard
GALE SONDERGAARD. Vintage 1930s 5x7 matte finish black and white half-length studio portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen, "Sincerely/Gale Sondergaard." O\Fine condition, with a few tiny stains in the border and background on the right side, minimally detracting from overall appearance. Gale Sondergaard won an Oscar for her film debut in Anthony Adverse (1936) -- the first Oscar ever awarded for Best Supporting Actress -- and was Hollywood's go-to villainous of choice for over a decade until being blacklisted during the McCarthy era, after which she would not appear in film for another twenty-five years.
