Colleen Moore
COLLEEN MOORE. Black and white 7.2 x 10.7 chest-up book-weight portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1924 edition of "Stars of the Photoplay," boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "For John All good wishes Colleen Moore." Fine condition, with mild border creasing. An intriguing image of the actress before she adopted the "flapper" look that would define her stellar career during the second half of the 1920s. Like other images in this collection, the page was likely signed in person in the early 1960s. The quintessential silent screen "flapper," Colleen Moore was adept at both comedy and glossy romance and became one of the highest-paid stars of the 1920s. Her usual high spirits seemed to be dampened by the microphone, however, and she retired from the screen in 1934 after a half dozen desultory talkies. John Verzi collection.
