Charles Lane
CHARLES LANE. Borderless glossy 8x10 black and white portrait of Lane in a faceoff with Lucille Ball, boldly signed and inscribed in later years in fine-point black felt tip ink, "To Dale/Charles Lane." Very fine condition. Over the course of a six-decade career, Charles Lane became one of the screen's most recognizable faces, despite being unbilled during much of the 1930s and '40s. He was usually cast as a crabby, sarcastic sourpuss, often to great comic effect, and appeared in over 350 films and television series, his final assignment being an off-screen narrator at age 101. He appeared in three iterations of Lucille Ball's television series over the years, portraying several different characters. Despite his lengthy career, autographed material remains rather elusive.
