Betty Compson
BETTY COMPSON. Sepia tone 7.3 x 10 chest-up book-weight portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1930 edition of "Stars of the Photoplay," boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To John/Sincerely/Betty Compson/ 1/11/64." Image by Preston Duncan. Fine condition, with scattered mild handling bends in the borders. The very popular and lovely leading lady of the silent screen won an (undeserved) Oscar nomination for her first talking film, The Barker (1928), and continued appearing in films until 1948, but increasingly in uncredited or bit roles.
