Anita Page
ANITA PAGE. Sepia tone 7.2 x 10 chest-up book-weight portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1930 edition of "Stars of the Photoplay," boldly signed in turquoise fountain pen and dated June 19, 1961 in her hand, adding a second date of 1961 in the top border. Image by Ruth Harriet Louise. Near very fine condition, with a slightly trimmed right edge and a few extremely mild bends in the borders. During her whirlwind five years with MGM (1928-32), Anita Page became one of the studio's most popular female stars, at one point receiving more weekly fan mail than any actress except Greta Garbo. Page later claimed that her contract at MGM was terminated because she refused the sexual advances of Louis B. Mayer and Irving Thalberg.
