Alexander Knox
ALEXANDER KNOX. Vintage 4.6 x 6.3 matte finish black and white chest-up portrait, signed in black fountain pen with his name alone. Fine condition, with extremely mild waviness along a portion of the right edge, but perversely signed against the dark fabric of his jacket, with only fair contrast. Generally cast in dignified, authoritative roles as both a leading man and character actor, Alexander Knox won an Oscar nomination for his performance in Wilson (1944). In the early 1950s, he became a target of the Hollywood blacklist and relocated to Britain, where he successfully resuscitated his career, appearing steadily in films, televison and onstage for another three decades.
