Tony Conigliaro
TONY CONIGLIARO. Bold signature in black felt tip ink on a 6x4 white index card. Very fine condition. A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in October 1970. John Verzi collection. Signed by the Red Sox at age 17, outfielder Tony Conigliaro's baseball career was cut short when he was hit by a pitch that permanently damaged his eyesight. Following several comeback attempts, he assayed a second career as a sportscaster, but was felled by a heart attack and subsequent stroke, dying at age 45.
