JOHN C. FREMONT. Bold signature, in black fountain pen, on a card, 3-1/2 x 1-7/8. Light mounting remnants to the verso; otherwise very fine condition. Soldier, statesman, and explorer, John C. Fremont mapped the Oregon Trail, played a major role in the acquisition of California during the Mexican War, and stood in 1856 as the first candidate for President of the newly formed Republican Party.
