The Spanish-born, Cuban-raised musician, known as “The Rumba King,” was a chart-topping band leader who helped popularize Hispanic music styles in the United States.  He was featured in numerous film musicals and also led the band at New York’s upscale Waldorf-Astoria Hotel for 16 years.
