Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white full-length publicity portrait, boldly signed in black felt tip ink.  Very fine condition.  A semi-professional football player and wrestler, Woody Strode made his first film appearances in bit roles in 1939, and began to appear more regularly in films from 1950 on, gradually being assigned larger and more complex roles, with his final screen appearance in 1995. A great friend of John Ford, he appeared in four of the director’s films and also had roles in numerous other Westerns and action films. Signed photographs have become somewhat uncommon.
