WESLEY BARRY. Black and white 7.5 x 10.7 book-weight bust portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1924 edition of “Stars of the Photoplay, ” signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To John/with every good wish/Wesley Barry.” Fine condition, with a slightly ragged right edge where the page was removed from the book. A pencil notation along the extreme top left indicates that this image was signed in person in August 1962. A wildly popular child actor and juvenile lead of the silent screen, Wesley Barry saw his acting career decline in the 1930s but happily reinvented himself as a director and assistant director in films and television, successfully working behind the screen for three decades.
