Vintage 8×10 matte finish black and white half-length portrait, inscribed in black fountain pen along the length of his walking stick, “To Ray Sperry Best wishes, “ and signed on his pocket handkerchief. Ray Sperry, to whom the photograph is inscribed, was the stand-in for Freddie Bartholomew, and would have worked with Fields during the filming of David Copperfield (1935). Fine condition, with mounting remnants on the reverse side; mild creasing to the top right corner; and Fields’s surname partially penned against the dark fabric of his jacket, that portion being somewhat difficult to see.
