Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white two-thirds length Paramount Pictures publicity portrait for Skylark (1941), boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To Irwin/best/Walter Abel.”  Fine condition, with a studio snipe printed on the reverse side; and scattered mild hanling and thumbing bends that do not substantially detract from overall appearance.  After an unsuccessful outing as a leading man in the poorly-received 1935 version of The Three Musketeers, Walter Abel settled into a lengthy career as a character actor, with numerous stage, screen, and television appearances in a career that spanned nearly seven decades.
