WALLACE BEERY. Vintage oversize matte finish silver tone bust portrait of the beloved character actor, from an unknown film, costumed in military uniform and saluting smartly, circa 1935, boldly inscribed in blue fountain pen across his hat, “To Minnie Parson/Best Wishes Wally Beery.” Fine condition, with very light ink brushing to two letters of his last name. Elaborately triple matted in shades of white, cream and blue, with a wide V-groove cut into the outer mat, and framed in a matching shade of cream. Slight scuffing to the frame. The photo has not been examined outside of the frame. The visible image, in mint condition, is 9×12-1/8, and the photo may have been trimmed. Nonetheless, a great portrait of one of MGM’s perennially top-grossing stars of the 1930s and ’40s, scarce in signed photographs of any size.
