VIVIENNE SEGAL. Elegant vintage 8×10 matte finish sepia tone full-length 1930s glamour portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen, “Greetings +/best wishes from/Vivienne Segal.” Near very fine condition, with very mild waviness along the left border. One of Broadway’s leading musical stars from 1915 to 1952, Vivienne Segal was lured to Hollywood during the brief musical craze that engulfed American screens shortly after the transition to sound. The four films she made were all duds, and Segal returned to Broadway, where she fairly quickly triumphed again, particularly in the Rogers and Hart musicals, I Married An Angel, Pal Joey, and A Connecticut Yankee. This photograph is part of the in-person “Sanford” collection.
