Sepia tone 7.3 x 10 chest-up book-weight portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1930 edition of “Stars of the Photoplay,” boldly signed in black fountain pen. Fine condition, with scattered extremely mild handling bends that do not substantially detract from overall appearance. Virginia Cherrill is best known for her performance as the blind girl in Chaplin’s City Lights (1931) and for her brief, stormy marriage to Cary Grant in 1934. She retired from acting and public life in 1936, and signed photographs are quite uncommon. This image was signed in person in the early 1960s.
