Scarce vintage signature and inscription, “To Eileen/Victor Francen,” in green fountain pen on a clipped green album page, about 6×2.  This signature was part of the John Verzi collection, but is one of the autographs that he acquired from another collector, and he has affixed the clip to a larger 6×4 green index card.  Belgian character actor Victor Francen was an established stage and screen actor in France when the Nazi invasion in 1940 forced him to flee to the United States.  In Hollywood, he quickly found work, mostly at Warner Bros., usually portraying sinister spies and provocateurs in films such as Hold Back the Dawn (1941), The Mask of Dimitrios (1944), and Confidential Agent (1945).
