Bold signature, “Cordially/Valentina Cortese,” in blue fountain pen on a 6×4 white index card.  Very fine condition.  A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person i August 1969.  John Verzi collection.  Valentina Cortese’s fine performances in Italian films during the 1940s brought her to the attention of Hollywood. During her relatively brief stint in America, she appeared memorably in such noir films as Thieves’ Highway (1949) and The House on Telegraph Hill (1951). While she would appear in other American films during the ensuing four decades, most of her career was spent in Europe. She won an Oscar nomination for her performance in Truffaut’s La nuit americaine (1973).
