SYLVIA SIDNEY. Glossy 1930s 8×10 black and white head and shoulders publicity portrait, boldly signed in later years in silver paint ink. Fine condition, with three tiny nicks along the left edge, the result of prior storage in a 3-ring binder; and two mild bends along the right edge, not substantially detracting from overall appearance. Usually cast, at the height of her career, as a fragile, teary-eyed ingenue, Sylvia Sidney in real life was one tough cookie, with seemingly little affection for her chosen profession.
