Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white chest-up studio portrait, by Hal McAlpin, for Wonder Man (1945), his screen debut, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To Virginia/all kinds of/Best Wishes/Steve Cochran.”  Fine condition, with scattered mild handling bends, most noticeable in the right border; and a single pin hole in the top border.  A portion of his signature is penned against the dark fabric of his suit jacket, but remains quite readable.  An original studio snipe is affixed to the reverse side.  The forceful leading man was usually cast in unsavory tough guy roles and died under murky circumstances at age 48.
