SLIM PICKENS. Vintage 9.25 x 7.5 glossy black and white photo on the actor on a bucking bronco, signed and inscribed in black ballpoint ink, “To Bridget/your [sic] my secret/love/Slim Pickens.” Fine condition, with trimmed borders; scattered mild handling bends; and Pickens’s face rather dark. Starting as a rodeo performer while in his teens, Slim Pickens found his way into film via B Westerns in the early 1950s. With his distinctive twang, he appeared in scores of films and television series over the next three decades, primarily in Westerns and primarily in comic roles. Two of his most memorable performances were in the films Dr. Strangelove (1964) and Blazing Saddles (1974).
