SIDNEY BLACKMER. Vintage 1930s 8×10 double-weight glossy black and white profile portrait by Apeda, signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “With a very low brow!/Ever sincerely -/Sidney Blackmer.” Fine condition, with scattered very mild handling bends and most of the writing penned against the dark fabric of his jacket, with moderate signature contrast. Charactor actor Sidney Blackmer had a prolific and varied career on the Broadway stage, television, radio, and the screen. He appeared in well over 100 films, perhaps his best-remembered role coming near the end of his life as the devil worshiper Roman Castevet in Rosemary’s Baby (1968).
