Vintage signature and inscription, “To/Tommy/Sincerely/Sessue Hayakawa,” boldly penned in green fountain pen on a white index card, 5×3. Very fine condition. Scarce. Spotted by director Thomas Ince while touring the U.S. with a Japanese theaete company, Sessue Hayakawa began working in Hollywood in 1914. The following year, with the release of Cecil B. deMille’s provocative The Cheat, he became a huge success and Hollywood’s first Asian-born star.
