Bold signature and inscription, “‘For Jon’/with/Every good wish/from/Ruth Etting,” in black felt tip ink on a 6×4 pink index card.  Very fine condition.  A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in May 1973.  John Verzi collection.  Dubbed “America’s Sweetheart of Song,” Ruth Etting was a Ziegfeld headliner and one of America’s top recording stars of the 1920s and ’30s. Her marriage to Chicago mobster Moe “Gimp” Snyder made for a most eventful home and professional life, which was depicted in the 1955 biopic, Love Me or Leave Me, starring Doris Day and James Cagney.
