Bold signature and inscription, “To John/Best Wishes,/Rufus Thomas,” in blue fountain pen on a 6×4 white index card.  Very fine condition, with a small magazine photograph affixed at the bottom right corner.  A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in July 1961.  John Verzi collection.  The Memphis-based performer, sometimes dubbed “The World’s Oldest Teenager,” was a rhythm-and-blues, soul, funk and blues singer/songwriter, dancer, DJ and comic performer.  He was considered the center of the Memphis music scene during much of his six-decade performing career.
