RICHARD ARLEN. Rugged-looking vintage 1943 8×10 glossy black and white chest-up Paramount Pictures publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To Jack/Good Luck/Richard Arlen.” Fine condition, with scattered mild handling bends in he borders and background, not significantly detracting from the overall appearance of the image. Richard Arlen became a Hollywood leading man in the latter years of the silent era. However, like fellow silent screen hunks George O’Brien and Charles Farrell, his acting talents were revealed to be woefully modest with the advent of the microphone, and he was fairly quickly relegated to low-budget action films, but soldiered on for another four decades with appearances in film and on television until his death in 1976.
