Vintage 6.75 x 9 glossy black and white chest-up studio portrait, signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To Edward Brown/with best regards/Richard Derr.”  About fine condition, with the photograph apparently trimmed from an original 8×10 size and the writing uniformly penned against the dark and busy fabric of his jacket.  Richard Derr, who played leading roles in “B” films throughout the 1940s, is probably best remembered as the star of the sci-fi cult classic, When Worlds Collide (1951).  He continued to work rather steadily in supporting roles on television and in films for another three decades, usually cast as sturdy authority figures.
