Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white chest-up portrait of Sissle holding a baton, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To/Jack Sampsn/with best wishes/ Noble Sissle/Sept. 43.”   Fine condition, with mild creasing in the borders and at three corner tips, very slightly intruding into the background of the image in several places.  Composer, lyricist, band leader and singer, Noble Sissle is best remembered for his collaboration with Eubie Blake on the groundbreaking musical, Shuffle Along (1921), which introduced the abiding hit “I’m Just Wild About Harry.”
