Vintage 7.75 x 10 linen finish black and white chest-up studio portrait, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To Madame Borge/Regards.Monte Blue.”  Fine condition, with a small pin hole in the top border, and slightly trimmed vertical borders.  Entering films as a stuntman in 1915, Monte Blue gradually rose through the ranks to become a successful leading man of the silent screen, playing opposite such stars as Gloria Swanson, Clara Bow, Lilyan Tashman and Norma Shearer. After the advent of sound, he continued to work steadily for another three decades, but almost exclusively in supporting roles, frequently unbilled, ultimately making over 200 screen appearances.
