Vintage 7×9 matte finish black and white bust portrait, signed and inscribed in white fountain pen, “To Rosina – my wife ‘in name only’ -/darn it!  Wishing you the greatest of success/health and happiness -/most affectionately Monroe.”  The photograph is likely inscribed to actress Rosina Lawrence, with whom he appeared in Mister Cinderella (1936).  Very good condition, with trimmed borders; a mild diagonal bend in the background at the top left corner; faint silvering around the edges, invisible when the photograph is viewed head on; and the ink quite faded, best viewed by angling the photograph into the light.  Character actor Monroe Owsley played supporting roles in 30 films between 1930-37, frequently typecast as slimy, amoral playboys.  He died of a heart attack following an auto accident at age 36.  Signed photographs are close to non-existent.
