MITCHELL LEISEN. Vintage 8×10 matte finish sepia tone full-length studio portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To Joe -/Sincerely/Mitch Leisen.” Fine condition, with mild border creasing; diagonal handling bends to the top left and bottom right corners; and a few very light surface impressions that are invisible when the photograph is viewed head on. Working at Paramount Pictures under contract from 1933-1951, director Mitchell Leisen developed a reputation as one of Hollywood’s top directors of comedies and romances. His films included Death Takes A Holiday (1934), Easy Living (1937), Midnight (1939), Hold Back the Dawn (1941) and The Mating Season (1951), among dozens of others. This is the third signed photograph I have ever seen.
