Vintage signature and inscription, To/John/Best wishes/Michael/Bentine,” in green fountain pen on a 6×4 white index card.  Very fine condition.  A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in May 1965.  John Verzi collection.  Comic actor Michael Bentine was one of the creators, along with Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers, of “The Goon Show” in 1951.  Over the ensuing decades, he wrote and appeared on numerous British television series, including the long-running “It’s A Square World,” and the award-winning “Potty Time.”  He was offered the chance to play the fourth Dr. Who, but negotiations fell apart due to his insistence that he be involved in the script writing for the series.
