Vintage 1930s 5×7 matte finish chest-up studio portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To/Virginia/Sincerely/Margaret Lindsay.”  Very fine condition, with portions of the signature penned against the dark fabric of her clothing, but generally readable.  Margaret Lindsay starred in occasional “B” films, but mostly played lady-like second fiddle to more dynamic stars at Warner Bros. during the 1930s and as a free-lancer during the 1940s. She played the role of Nikki Porter in seven low-budget Ellery Queen mysteries released by Columbia Pictures between 1940-1942.
