MAE WEST. Outstanding vintage 10.75 x 13.5 matte finish black and white full-length portrait from She Done Him Wrong (1933), boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To/Bert/Sincerely/Mae West.” Fine condition, with two corner pinholes; small bends to two corner tips; and three faint impressions in the background, only minimally detracting from overall appearance. The photograph is inscribed to Bert Kalmar, who, as partner with composer Harry Ruby, provided the lyrics for such songs as “Who’s Sorry Now, ” “I Wanna Be Loved By You, ” “Three Little Words, ” and many others. The pair also provided songs for the Marx Brothers films made at Paramount Pictures.
