Over the next quarter century, he made scores of appearances in film and television, as well as on the stage, although the Hollywood blacklist interrupted his film career for close to a decade. He is perhaps best remembered as Papa Yoelson in The Jolson Story (1946) and Jolson Sings Again. (1949), although he was more often typecast in sinister roles..
