LEATRICE JOY. Black and white 7.2 x 10.7 book-weight chest-up portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1924 edition of “Stars of the Photoplay, ” boldly signed and inscribed in green fountain pen, “To John from Leatrice Joy.” A pencil notation along the extreme top right edge indicates that this page was signed in person in May 1963. Fine condition, with very mild handling bends in the borders. Silent screen leading lady Leatrice Joy played self-made career women and other sophisticated types in several dozen features of the 1920s. She retired shortly after the advent of sound, making occasional appearances in small roles in films and television over the ensuing decades. John Verzi collection.
