Vintage 7.6 x 9.6 double-weight semi-glossy light sepia tone chest-up profile portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To/Mrs. McLaughlin/With my love/Laurette Taylor/1919.” Fine condition, with very slightly trimmed borders; a small stain on her neck; and scattered mild handling bends that do not substantially detract from the overall appearance of the image. One of the most distinguished actresses of the American stage in the 20th century, Laurette Taylor created the role of Amanda in The Glass Menagerie. She appeared in only three silent films, two of them based on her early stage successes, Peg O’ My Heart (1922) and Happiness (1924). Signed photographs are surprisingly scarce.
