KITTY CARLISLE. Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white chest-up glamor portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “For Doris/very sincerely/Kitty Carlisle.” Very good condition, with creasing to all four corner tips, and scattered mild handling bends and scuffs to the glossy finish within the image. Actress and singer Kitty Carlisle appeared in such films as Murder at the Vanities (1934), A Night at the Opera (1935), and Catch Me If You Can (2002, a cameo appearance as herself), as well as numerous Broadway plays. Married to playwright Moss Hart, she devoted much of her time in later years to fund-raising for the arts, chairing the New York State Council of the Arts for two decades. This 1934 photograph dates from the year of her film debut.
