Exceedingly scarce signature, “C[hristopher] Carson,” in black ink on a small off-white slip, about 3.5 x 2.  About very fine condition, with the slip lightly affixed to a minutely larger piece of white paper.  The frontierman, scout and soldier is one of the legendary figures of the Ameican West.  The signature likely dates from around the late 1860s.
