JOHN PAUL GETTY. Bold signature in blue fountain pen on a 4×6 white index card. Very fine condition. A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in May 1962. The petroleum tycoon, founder of the Getty Oil Company, was ranked as the world’s richest private citizen in the 1950s. Notoriously frugal, Getty spent much of his fortune acquiring an extraordinary art collection which became the basis of the Getty Museum following his demise. John Verzi Collection.
