Bold signature in blue fountain pen on a 6×4 white index card. Very fine condition. A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in November 1967. John Verzi collection. John Profumo was the Secretary of State for War in Harold MacMillan’s Conservative government in Britain when details of his affair with model Christine Keeler, who was simultaneously involved with a Soviet naval attache, became public in 1963. The scandal roiled British politics, resulting in Profumo’s resignation and the subsequent defeat of the Conservatives. The affair was later dramatized both on the screen and the stage.
