JOE E. BROWN. Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white chest-up portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint ink, “To Ken Brown/Happiness/Joe E. Brown/ 2/21/57.” Fine condition, with scattered extremely mild handling bends and surface impressions, and the writing uniformly penned against the dark fabric of his jacket, but generally quite readable. Asked once by an interviewer what his middle initial E. stood for, Brown replied that it didn’t stand for anything — he had merely stolen it from Lizabeth Scott!
