Vintage 1940s 3.5 x 5.5 semi-glossy black and white bust studio portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “Pour Monsieur Alfons Van Gande/avec toute ma sympathie/Janine Darcey.”  Very fine condition.  During a six-decade film and television career, the French actress rose from bit player in the 1930s, to leading lady in the 1940s, and then a supporting or character actress from the 1950s on, appearing in such films as French Without Tears (1940) and Rififi (1955).
