Borderless 10×8 glossy black and white still portrait from Car Trouble (1986), his penultimate screen appearance, boldly signed in blue fountain pen, “Best wishes/Ian Charleson.” Very fine condition, with a studio snipe affixed to the reverse side. Ian Charleson came to international attention as a result of his performance in Chariots of Fire (1981), appearing in only a handful of additional films prior to his death of AIDS at age 41. He was highly acclaimed for his work on British television and on the stage, where he played both Shakespearean and contemporary roles.
