HOOT GIBSON. Splendid vintage 11×14 linen finish sepia tone chest-up portrait by Freulich, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “For Mr. Griffiths/Success always/Hoot Gibson/31.” Fine condition, with small bends to three corner tips and faint silvering in the background along the edges. One of the most popular and prolific cowboy stars of the American screen, Hoot Gibson entered film in 1910 and appeared in well over a hundred one- and two-reelers before graduating to feature length films in the early 1920s. He would continue as a star in nearly another 100 B Westerns through 1946.
