HENRI SALVADOR

Bold signature in blue felt tip ink on a 6×4 white index card.  Very fine condition, with a small magazine photograph affixed at the top left corner.  A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in September 1968.  John Verzi collection.  Born in French Guiana in 1917, Henri Salvador landed in Paris as a young man and became a fixture of the Parisian cultural scene, as a band leader, singer, comic, occasional actor, and memoirist.  He was the first person ever to record rock ‘n roll songs in France, performed on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” and collaborated with such artists as Quincy Jones and Yves Montand.
