Glossy 8×10 black and white head and shoulders publicity portrait for Fortunes of War (1987), boldly signed in black felt tip ink, “Best wishes./Haing S. Ngor/6-27-94.” Very fine condition. Trained as a doctor, Haing S. Ngor fled Cambodia and was able to resume his practice in California. With no acting experience, he was cast in a major role in The Killing Fields (1984), a depiction of life in Cambodia under the reign of the Khmer Rouge, becoming only the second non-professional actor (after Harold Russell) to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance. Ngor was killed in a street robbery in 1996. Signed photographs are extremely uncommon.
