GRETA NISSEN

Vintage 3.5 x 5.5 double-weight glossy black and white chest-up studio portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen.  Very fine condition.  The beautiful Norwegian leading lady was fairly active in Hollywood during the second half of the 1920s, but the writing was on the wall when she was replaced by the then unknown Jean Harlow in Hell’s Angels (1930) due to Nissen’s heavy accent. By 1933, she had relocated to England, where she tried, without much success, to revive her career, finally retiring from the screen permanently in 1937.
